Rouge Coco

Vanessa Paradis, French actress and singer has a long on-going relationship with both Chanel and, more famously, Johnny Depp. She is the current face of Rouge Coco lipstick as well as the Chanel 'Cocoon' handbag line. The latest advertising campaign is both romantic and ethereal. I now feel like shying away from my soft neutral lipstick palette and moving into something more adventurous like the coral tones of  'Mademoiselle'. Rouge Coco is available in thirty shades and is named after details that define Coco Chanel's life like 'Camelia', 'Paris' and 'Gabrielle'.

Laduree

No trip to Paris would be complete without a trip to Laduree. Not only are their delicate macarons, in every delectable colour, probably the best you'll ever taste but their famous cafes / shops are a heavenly visual treat. Everything from the pistachio green exteriors to their lavish interiors, delicate pastries, and dainty packaging is an absolute delight. Macarons should be crisp on the outside, smooth and soft in the middle. They are made fresh every morning at Laduree's 'Laboratory'. Every new season, Laduree pays tribute to it's most famous creation by creating a new flavour.

Your biggest dilemma will be what flavour to chose! You may be tempted by the more traditional flavours such as bitter chocolate, rose, mint, orange blossom, blackcurrent violet, caramel and salted butter or you may prefer to experiment with exotic flavours like liquorice, lemon cedrat or chestnut.

Lazy Daze

Some days it's just nice to not do anything. I love nothing more than relaxing at home with cups of tea in bed, piles of good mags, fresh flowers in the house and the sun streaming in through the windows. These are my simple luxuries in life - a weekend without chores and plenty of 'me' time. The phrase 'staycation' was coined after the GFC hit when everyone was looking at more affordable holiday options. Even Vogue dedicated a whole article on the pleasures of staying at home. The most energetic I get on a 'staycation' is going for a stroll along the river or the beach. If I am being very adventurous then I may even have lunch on the deck of our local cafe that sits overlooking the water. They do the best pan fried calamari this side of the coast!

Game, Set, Match

We are in the midst of the 'Australian Tennis Open' and Melbourne is buzzing with excitement. Tennis fever is in the air and everyone has been queuing up to get centre court seats to see either Federer or Nadal thrash it out for the title. Sadly, I saw Nadal lose last night. I love Nadal's sense of fun with his tennis outfits. Last year at the Open he wore bold stripes in orange and hot pink. But when it comes to on court style it's Maria Sharpova that takes the prize.

Here are few examples of her winning style both on and off the court.

Here are a few items on my wish list that I honestly believe will improve my game ... and if they don't, at least I will look good trying! I absolutely must have that pink Chanel tennis racquet with matching balls and I love the idea of carrying all my gear in the pink Polo Ralph Lauren carry all. How stylish would I look at my local tennis club!

Australia Day

Today is Australia Day - it's the middle of summer and a public holiday so the best way to celebrate is to gather some friends, fire up the barbecue, kick back for the afternoon and enjoy the sunshine. Whip up a pavlova and top it with fresh strawberries and cream, make some homemade lamingtons and serve up some mini meat pies topped with an 'aussie' flag. It might not be the most sophisticated of parties but it will sure to be a load of fun. Go on, throw another prawn on the barbie!

If you are feeling energetic here a few ideas to host an extra special Australia Day beach barbecue. Send out some red, white and blue invitations. Fill up some big ice buckets with cold drinks, hang the Australian flag from the balcony, hand out pairs of thongs with Aussie gift tags to your guests, bundle up knives and forks with a serviette and tie them with red and white striped ribbon. It's amazing how much more fun your friends with have if you put in that little bit of extra effort!

Arnaud Bath Products

As a interior designer I am a great believer in attention to detail. Arnaud bath products are an Australian company that produces a beautiful range of organic luxury bath products. Their range includes bath salts, bubble bath, soap, hand and body creams. The packaging is gorgeous with beautiful curved glass bottles, cork stoppers, wax seals and French inspired graphics. A few pieces from this range adds the finishing touch to any stylish bathroom.

Silver Sparkle

Every now and again we need a little sparkle in our lives. I think my silver sequined mini dress days are over but there are more subtle ways to sparkle in silver. I love elegant silver high heels for dressing up at night or a pair of satin heels with some fancy detail - whether it be jewels, diamantes, beading or bows. If it's a special occasion I like a bit of shimmer in my make-up and a bit of sparkle in my outfit. Diamante earrings always make me feel like I'm ready to party along with a spritz of Chanel No. 5 perfume and a jewelled clutch.

All that glitters...

This elegant collection of images imbues a sense of luxury, quality and style. Gold teamed with whites, creams  and beige has always been a timeless and sophisticated combination. A popular choice when decorating royal palaces, five star hotels, stately mansions and elegant homes. Gold fashion accessories and jewellery add a touch of glamour to any outfit.
