Caramel Luxe

 

 

 

 

I love anything caramel - I drool over caramel filled chocolates, caramel laced cakes, and caramel swirled through ice-cream. I also think it is a sublimely elegant colour for classic pieces like winter coats, pashminas, hand-bags, silk scarves and knitwear ... think Hermes and Savatore Ferragamo! It's also a very sophisticated colour for decorating with. How luxurious would a pair of antique Louis chairs look in a caramel velvet and wouldn't drapes look exquisite in toffee coloured silk? They sound almost good enough to eat!

Cubby Houses

   

 

I spent half of my childhood making cubby houses. On rainy days it would be a blanket over the dining table and in summer it was under the house...surprise, surprise - I ended up an interior designer! Mind you my cubby houses never looked as good as this one. They were more on the creative side with wooden crates for makeshift furniture and hand me down cushions and blankets for soft furnishings. It was full of spiders cobwebs with a dirt floor but boy did I have some fun fixing it all up!

Surround yourself with what you love ... 

I'm a bowerbird of all things beautiful :-

I collect everything pretty from fabric cuttings, to colour swatches,

cards, ribbons, stationary, wrapping paper, magazine clippings,

shopping bags, invitations and business cards

Anything that catches my eye or take my fancy. 

I keep them in pretty boxes or add them to my pinboard.

Maria's fresh & pretty Colour Palette

I am loving the work of Portuguese interior designer Maria Barros. Maria has captured the imagination of the blogging world with her fresh, colourful and creative approach to design. Her work is constantly being featured on blogs and Pinterest all over the world. I too, am totally enamoured with the gorgeous spaces she creates. The confident colour combinations are new and exciting and her mix of patterns and prints is clever and confident. She says her design is a reflection of her "HAPPY" self.  

I can see how that is true, I feel happy just looking at her photos!

it has been making appearances on catwalks

Bright Pink Party Inspiration

I love this hot pink and pale pink themed party - there's lots of clever inspiring ideas that would work well for both a Birthday or a Valentine's Day Party. The coloured milk in the bottles with the cute flags on the straws is a very novel idea and those bright pink sugar swizzle sticks are a a lot of fun. I'm loving that pink ruffle cake  but it looks like it's the kind of decorating that should only be attempted by a professional. I would hate to see the end result if I gave it a shot myself!

I was in there yesterday having a little peak

quietly noting a few things I might like for an upcoming anniversary.

Luckily for my husband
