Gold Rush

Today I am dreaming of swanning around in these elegant interiors, reclining on my chaise lounge with a glass of champagne in hand, dripping in diamonds and flicking through the latest issue of Vogue. The harsh reality is, I will working away in the studio on a Saturday because I stupidly promised to meet clients on Sunday morning to go over their design. What was I thinking?! But I will start my day of swooning over these beautiful spaces with their gilded mirrors, gold leaf detailing, French chandeliers and antique furniture. Happy Weekend!

Apricot Delight

I just bought the airfreight issues of American and British Vogue. It's that time of the year when they have their bumper fashion issues and I like to stay on top of the treads for next season. I am loving all the pretty pastels that are emerging on this season's catwalks. There's a ladylike, graceful air to the summer collections, particularly from the likes of Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren and Oscar de la Renta - 3 of my faves. I am looking forward to seeing lots of feminine pastels in my wardrobe and underwear drawer next season!

Pen & Ink

 

Here are few illustrations from one of my favourite fashion illustrators Christian David Moore. I took life drawing and fashion illustration classes when I was studying for my fashion degree and the frustrating thing about it is that it looks so much easier than it really is. The good ones make it look so effortless - a line here, a brushstroke there and 'voila', a fabulous drawing! But I can promise you to be this good is not just lots of practice it's a rare talent and great gift that only a few possess!

A Pop Of Bright Colour

Today I'm loving all things bright, happy and colorful!

 I'm dreaming of iced donuts, cream filled macarons and cupcakes

I have been craving chocolate and sweet things all day long

and so far I have been very little control in

resisting the cookie jar and 

the tub of 'cookies and cream' ice cream in the freezer!

Do you ever have days like that?

Mauve Mystique

Loving this elegant combination of mauve with silver and gold ...how luxurious are these looks in velvet, silk and chiffon? They look just as glamorous in an interior scheme as they do on the catwalk!

Chocolate Indulgence

 

I had a bit of an indulgent weekend spoiling myself with a few extra treats - not only did I do my Easter egg shopping but I made a delicious chocolate tart from one of my favourite Donna Hay recipes for a dinner party on Saturday night. It didn't look quite as perfect as the photo in the cookbook (above) but the few points I lost on presentation I made up for in flavour! Despite the fact it was terribly rich all the guys were keen to have seconds. I finished up my naughty weekend with churros and hot choclate from the local market on Sunday. They were well worth the extra runs that I'll have to put in this week!

An Elegant Life

  

 

Today I'm crushing on soft, elegant interiors in demure shades of

ivory, beige, lilac and pink

beautiful spaces to indulge oneself in luxury living.

I'm dreaming of :-

pretty boudoirs with four poster beds

feminine bathrooms with claw foot baths

dressing rooms lined in silk

living rooms with velvet sofas and ruched cushions

rooms filled with fresh flowers

and sweeping staircases.

A Relaxing Weekend

 

 

 

 

I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend with nothing much to do
except for perhaps:-

a glass or two of chilled white wine

dinner out at cosy restaurant on Saturday night

a long lie in on Sunday morning

a little shopping and a coffee with a girlfriend

catching up on pile of unread magazines

 trying out some new recipes

 finishing off my book curled up on my comfy sofa
