Inspired Romance

Here's little romantic inspiration to celebrate the last few days of Spring. It's a celebration of all the pretty things that surround us and the beauty in everyday life. Take a little time to enjoy the last of the Spring blossoms, freshly cut garden blooms, perfectly manicured nails, dainty ribbons and feminine fabrics, lacey lingerie and a new lipstick. Have a lovely day and revel in the joys of being a woman!

Stylish Blogger Award

On a high note, I have received the 'Stylish Blogger Award' from a few lovely people but have only just got around to doing something about it. I was tickled pink and it's very gratifying to receive a little reward from fellow bloggers when we all put in so much time and effort to our blogs. So many thanks to Annette Piper, Marina from Iced VovosJust Call Me Martha and My Black Book. As part of accepting this award I need to share seven things about me that you probably won't know and then pass the award on to seven other stylish bloggers.

Here are seven blogs that inspired me when setting up my Coastal Style blog:

Seven things that you may not know about me:

1) I love the fact that my husband brings me breakfast in bed everyday
2) I love reading cookbooks and trying out new recipes
3) I love a perfect day's skiing with blue skies, fresh snow and sunshine
4) I love twilight yacht racing
5) I love working from home and missing peak hour traffic
6) I love eating seafood on my deck
7) I love the simple things in life like crisp, cotton sheets, daisies
and home cooked meals

Tonight I will celebrate my award with a glass of bubbly. Thanks everyone!

Golden Luxe

Here's a little luxury to start the weekend with. I have a party tonight which requires something fabulous to wear. Now it doesn't need to be 'this fabulous' but I am thinking something chic and stylish with a few sequins for a little added sparkle. I love the idea of red lipstick for a bit of extra glamour and some chunky gold jewellery to add an air of sophistication!

Blanc En Blanc - Paris Interiors

Okay I admit I am a lover of all things French - fashion, fragrance, design, food, architecture, pastries, countryside ...the list goes on and on. What isn't there to love? This week I'm loving French interiors - I'm been lucky enough to stay with friends in some gorgeous Parisienne apartments complete with worn parquetry floors, high ceilings, wedding cake mouldings, wrough iron balconies, marble fireplaces and antique chandeliers. Furniture was a mix of old and new, antique and reproduction but the end results were always the same :- chic, stylish and effortless. The thing about French style is it's nonchalnce - nothing is too considered or too perfect. Prints are hung haphazardly or left sitting on the floor, collections of books and magazines are strewn around and odd collections of ornaments are grouped together. I need to loosen up a bit with my decorating style and  get a little more creative and a little less perfect!

Rosewater Pink

Inspired by the latest issue of Donna Hay which featured a meringue dessert bar I decided to make up a batch of meringues on the weekend. I put my own little stamp on the recipe and added a few drops of good quality rosewater to the basic recipe. The flavour was very subtle but it gave them the delicate aroma of roses. Then I added a little colour by dipping a skewer into some pink food coloring and swirled it through the top of each merignue. They were very pretty getting lots of oohhs and aahs from guests when I served them up with strawberries and whipped cream!

Painting Classes

Having studied fashion design I have had my fair share of art classes but have never really done anything with it. The other day I commissioned an artist to make me three pieces to freshen up things in my beach house. My husband and I went to visit her in her Portsea studio and I fell in love with her sunny, creative studio and her amazing artistic talents. I left feeling so inspired that I am going to get out my paints, brushes and watercolour papers and start creating a little artwork of my own to hang on the walls!

Primrose Heaven

Today is dedicated to some pampering - I have an appointment at the hair salon then while I'm waiting for my highlights to do their thing, I have my nails done by my bubbly and very chatty beautician. There's always time to catch up on the latest gossip mags and my hairdresser fills me in all the local gossip. So by the time I'm done not only am I coiffed, manicured and looking gorgeous but I'm also well read, well informed and full of tantalizing conversation!!!
