I believe that kids room should reflect their personality and taste. Now I not saying to put them in total control of decorating their bedrooms but get them involved by asking them a few key questions which will ensure that they are happy in their bedroom and that they feel like it belongs to them. Finding out their favourite colour is a good starting point and providing some display spaces for a collection of their favourite toys and hobbies will ensure that they feel connected with their space where they sleep and play.

Pretty rooms! Unfortunatley, our 5 year old daughter tells us that now, her favorite color is black. Well, THAT'S not happening, however, her next favorite is yellow, so we work with that, lol!
I absolutely agree!!! My 12yos room is very shabby chic - an art deco dressing table, an old roll top desk and a floral arm chair as well as paper garlands and fashion illustration prints hung up. Miss 11 has all black furniture - very minimalist as she hates clutter. With her own art works framed. Where as my twin daughters room is filled with random items they love - an apple clock, skull print cork boards, pikachu origami fairy light lanterns they made with their dad. Their rooms scream them - and they are so happy hanging out in them. Great post!
