Arabian Nights

My brother and his family have just moved to Dubai. I hear the shopping, the hotels, the exclusive beach clubs and the desert spas are all totally luxurious and over-the-top. So I think a visit is in order sometime in the near future. I fancy myself riding around on a camel in the desert wearing something exotic. Very 'SACT 2!

Hi Melissah
I am a newcomer to your lovely blog and I read your post on Dubai with interest....
As a longtime resident of Dubai (13 years!) I have pretty much grown up with the city...when I arrived all those years ago, there were few roads, about 6 hotels along the beach front properties and two shopping malls for shopping. I am a decorative painter and in those days I had to ship in my paints and glazes from South Africa and the UK to paint the hotels and Palaces I was hired to work on. It was a fascinating time and I loved living here. Although it is an amazing place to live now with the biggest and the best in the world on our doodrstep , it was a lot of fun in the old days , I have to say and I often look back with fondness.....when you're ready to visit, feel free to contact me for any ideas on shopping or places of interest to visit. I would be happy to help.
There is an image of Bab Al Shams Roof Top Bar....that is a must see..it is a beautiful place to visit, built on the dunes in the middle of the desert.Fabulous place for sun-downers .....
Great post!!
Julie
