My Blog Launch

I was inspired to set up a blog by Interior Designer, Frances Russell. Frances lives in Queensland so naturally I have never met her but I accidentally came across her blog and Beautiful Interiors and 18th Century Style loved it 'Beautiful Interiors and 18th Century Style'. All the images she had put together for it reminded me of all the things that I truly love in life. She suggested I start my own blog so I was up for the challenge. It's got a bit of everything and it has ended up being a true reflection of what inspires me and what I aspire to. I will attempt to update the home page on a regular basis but the other pages have to be fixed due to my limited website skills! I am planning to update the site with fashion and design news, my favourite restaurants, films I've seen, places I've stayed, people I admire and things on my wish list. I have had a lot of fun putting this together and have managed to cross a few design hurdles in the process. It's all been very rushed but I was aiming to have it all completed by Christmas so I could feature a Christmas story. Well it's finished now, so I can breathe a sigh of relief and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Chanel Cruise Collection

I wish I had had an invitation to the 2011 Chanel Cruise Collection which took place in St Tropez. Models arrived at the harbor town via luxury speed boats. The resort collection sets the tone for summer fashion and I would love nearly every piece in my wardrobe. The collection was heavily inspired by the jet-setter traveling to exclusive destinations with a simple holiday wardrobe.

The collection was a riot of pastel pink and turquoise alternating with romantic whites and simple, neutral tones. Models strolled down the runway barefoot in ruffles, flowing dresses, dainty gingham print bathing suits, sophisticated stripes, and sweet colour-block dresses. Georgia Mae Jagger closed the show on the back of a motorcycle with her one of her dad’s songs playing in the background. Check out some of my favourite looks for the show. I’ll have one of everything please!

Nine - The Movie

Synposis:
Famous film director Guido Contini struggles to find harmony in his professional and personal lives, as he engages in dramatic relationships with his wife, his mistress, his muse, his agent, and his mother.

My review:
I am a big fan of Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman and everyone else in the movie for that fact. I love dancing & singing so if you are into musicals, like I am, then it's sure to be a hit. Kate Hudson's 'Cinema Italiano' song & dance is a real highlight however it's Marion Cottilard that proves to be the real surprise with great acting and a great voice.

Audrey Hepburn

Born in Brussels Audrey Hepburn is one of the biggest style icons of our time. Perhaps it was the elegance and wit she possessed, or that little black dress and white gloves in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”.

Like style icon Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Audrey Hepburn kept it simple. She too loved clean lines and clothes the emphasized her tall and slim physique. Her physical attributes were very different from other actresses from her time, like Marilyn Monroe.

Audrey Hepburn knew how to take the simplest silhouettes and make them elegant. She is famous for bringing us the:- 'The Little Black Dress', Capri Pants, Ballet Flats, Turtlenecks, Trench Coats and perfect Handbags. Her main fashion designer was Hubert Givenchy, who designed her wardrobe for films such as Funny Face, Breakfast at Tiffany's and Paris When It Sizzles.

Blake Lively - Modern Day 'It Girl'

Success
At just 18 Blake Lively starred in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, one of the most successful tween movies in history grossing $42 million. Following that she landed a role on one of TV’s hottest shows Gossip Girl and has since appeared on  a host of covers including American Vogue. She was also named of the top 35 most stylish women to look out for by Glamour UK. In 2011, she will be starring in the Ben Affleck directed movie The Town.

Gossip Girl
Blake Lively plays 'Serena' the star of Gossip Girl, alongside Leighton Meester, a show targeted at wannabe teenagers that tells the story of well-to-do kids in New York’s Upper Eastside, and the bloggers that follow their antics. All that aside, Blake is a gorgeous all American girl with a sunny disposition and an incredible sense of style that warrants the attention of anyone interested in fashion and wholesome American beauty. I am sure she will go onto bigger and better things.

Biography
Some girls grow up dreaming of a career in Hollywood. Others, like Blake Lively, have to be dragged into it by their brothers. Blake’s parents were both talent agents in L.A., so she had nothing but doors open. Still, she resisted Tinseltown’s siren call. So, brother Eric went behind her back and secretly signer her up with his agent and so begin her successful career.

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

I've been lucky enough to have Christmas in New York, London and Paris but I've never had a truly white Christmas where I've woken up in the morning and it's been snowing outside.
But I believe with a little bit of imagination you can still create a bit of that magic by having an all white Christmas theme. Mix it back with silver and gold to add that touch of sparkle and you'll almost believe it's snowing!

A Modern Day Christmas

Living on the coast I am always drawn to a beachy style Christmas but every once in a while I think it would be nice to do something different. I would like to have a country Christmas one year and I would decorate my tree something along the lines of the images below. I love that modern day take on the traditional red and green theme. It's simple and refreshingly different.

Party Time

I love throwing a good party. I always start with a theme in mind, this can be as simple as a single colour. Then apply that colour or theme to flowers, place-cards, serviettes, party decorations, balloons, personalised gift boxes and printed menus...if you can be bothered taking it that far. I think it's this attention to detail and a tightly co-ordinated colour palette that makes all the difference.
The icing on the cake!
Depending on your creative skills, time and energy will determine how much effort you go to but even a few little bit of effort can add a lot of magic to a special occasion!

Here are a few images that I find inspiring.
