French Glamour

I had a little shopping spree yesterday and headed off to see what's new at Chanel and Louis Vuitton. Having recently had a big shop at LV I was determined this time I would exercise some self control. I bought a chic, little pair of CC earrings in black and silver and the new season's nail polish in pink - called 'May'. I was very pleased with my little purchases and my ability to resist expensive handbag temptations!!!

Chanel Resort Report

Fit for a Queen!
Loving this confection of pretty pastels seen at the recent showing of the Chanel Resort Collection 2013. Stunningly set in the gardens of Versailles with the chateau making the most perfect heavenly backdrop. Karl Lagerfeld certainly did not disappoint us with his theatrics and a new twist on some old favourites. I loved the classic tweeds in Laduree shades with the unexpected details. I am sure if Marie Antoinette had been sitting from row she would have fallen in love with this collection!

An Ode To Chanel

This image sums up the very epitome of style and beauty to me. Gorgeous glossy hair, elegantly swept over to the side, heavenly handbag - classic and chic, natural make-up and a pretty blouse with lovely detailing. Chanel has been my all time favourite designer for as long as I can remember and that timeless beauty that captured my imagination at fifteen or sixteen still holds me in raptures today!

 

Audrey Tatou does a fabulous job of playing Chanel in 'Coco Avant Chanel. A must see if you haven't already.

 

Chanel No 5. is my favourite but oh what joy to receive a bottle of this at Christmas!

Any gift that comes wrapped like this has to be exquisite.

Not quite my cup of tea but black Chanel ballet flats with the quilted toes are on my Christmas wish list.

Chanel Cruise Collection

I wish I had had an invitation to the 2011 Chanel Cruise Collection which took place in St Tropez. Models arrived at the harbor town via luxury speed boats. The resort collection sets the tone for summer fashion and I would love nearly every piece in my wardrobe. The collection was heavily inspired by the jet-setter traveling to exclusive destinations with a simple holiday wardrobe.

The collection was a riot of pastel pink and turquoise alternating with romantic whites and simple, neutral tones. Models strolled down the runway barefoot in ruffles, flowing dresses, dainty gingham print bathing suits, sophisticated stripes, and sweet colour-block dresses. Georgia Mae Jagger closed the show on the back of a motorcycle with her one of her dad’s songs playing in the background. Check out some of my favourite looks for the show. I’ll have one of everything please!

Audrey Tautou - Chanel No. 5

Following are some stills taken from the latest Chanel No. 5 commercial titled ”Train de Nuit” (Night Train) featuring the latest face for Coco Chanel, French actress Audrey Tautou. Audrey follows in the footsteps of Nicole Kidman and is best known for her appearances in the quirky French film 'Amelie' and the American blockbuster 'The Da Vinci Code'. Directed by Jean Pierre Jeunet, also of 'Amelie' fame, the commercial was shot on the famous Orient Express. I love the mix of old movie feeling and the anticipation it creates. Chanel No. 5 commercial are always evocative… and this one is no exception.
