Say Cheese

In my family we are all addicted to cheese - we love every kind of cheese from everyday Coon tasty slices to the more sophisticated creamy French Brie, Cambenbert and Blue Vein cheeses. We love feta in salads, salty pan fried haloumi cheese for an appetizer, Stilton with port and King Island cheddar cheese with crackers and a glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. So a beautifully laid out table with a wide selection of gourmet cheeses like the one below couldn't be more appealing to us!

Let's Celebrate

Now that summer is well and truly here it makes me feel like celebrating. I love a good party and an excuse will do - birthday, anniversary, promotion, going away, new born or simply just for fun of it. Go that extra mile and fill the house with balloons, hand out some sparklers, open up some French champagne, play some good music, mix up a batch of your favourite cocktail and sprinkle around some confetti. You guests are bound to have a an extra good time and a night they will remember...or maybe not!

Decorate the house

Order some helium balloons

Sprinkle confetti around

Add a little sparkle

Open a bottle of bubbly

Make a birthday cake

The Millswyn

Restaurant Review

Fresh, light hearted and playful – the Millswyn is a new French style Brasserie in Melbourne. Famed interior designers Hecker Gunthrie have fitted out the café and restaurant with a minimalistic Nordic feel. After being inspired by a review in a magazine I popped in to have lunch and check it out. Set directly across from the lovely Royal Botanical Gardens the Millswyn takes over from Lynch’s which was one of Melbourne’s most iconic restaurants. The Millswyn takes on a new tempo with its bright white café, tiled walls and high marble benches. The restaurant by contrast followed a darker palette. My lunch was light and simple making the most of fresh, seasonal produce. Definitely worth calling in on.

Happy New Year!!!

To be perfectly honest I did not spend my New Year's Eve at a glamorous party in a pair of heels, dressed in a party number with a glass of bubbly in hand. Nor was I surrounded by stylish people with the sound of champagne corks popping loudly in the background. Instead, I spent New Year's Eve in true 'aussie' style down at our local beach with kids in tow. It was a hot summer's night so the dress code for the evening was shorts and summer dresses while kids raced around in the sand in bare feet. Cocktails and canapes were replaced by a sausage in one hand a plastic wine glass in the other but having said that the air was full of the sound of kids laughing, the waves crashing on the beach, fireworks, cicadas humming and a good time was had by all. Maybe next year I will do some thing a little more glamorous 'sans' kids!

My Blog Launch

I was inspired to set up a blog by Interior Designer, Frances Russell. Frances lives in Queensland so naturally I have never met her but I accidentally came across her blog and Beautiful Interiors and 18th Century Style loved it 'Beautiful Interiors and 18th Century Style'. All the images she had put together for it reminded me of all the things that I truly love in life. She suggested I start my own blog so I was up for the challenge. It's got a bit of everything and it has ended up being a true reflection of what inspires me and what I aspire to. I will attempt to update the home page on a regular basis but the other pages have to be fixed due to my limited website skills! I am planning to update the site with fashion and design news, my favourite restaurants, films I've seen, places I've stayed, people I admire and things on my wish list. I have had a lot of fun putting this together and have managed to cross a few design hurdles in the process. It's all been very rushed but I was aiming to have it all completed by Christmas so I could feature a Christmas story. Well it's finished now, so I can breathe a sigh of relief and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Chanel Cruise Collection

I wish I had had an invitation to the 2011 Chanel Cruise Collection which took place in St Tropez. Models arrived at the harbor town via luxury speed boats. The resort collection sets the tone for summer fashion and I would love nearly every piece in my wardrobe. The collection was heavily inspired by the jet-setter traveling to exclusive destinations with a simple holiday wardrobe.

The collection was a riot of pastel pink and turquoise alternating with romantic whites and simple, neutral tones. Models strolled down the runway barefoot in ruffles, flowing dresses, dainty gingham print bathing suits, sophisticated stripes, and sweet colour-block dresses. Georgia Mae Jagger closed the show on the back of a motorcycle with her one of her dad’s songs playing in the background. Check out some of my favourite looks for the show. I’ll have one of everything please!
