Summer is all about the beach to me - long walks along the sand collecting shells, worn pebbles and driftwood along the way. White weather board cottages and simple beach shacks. Simple summer cotton dresses that blow in the breeze, floppy straw hats and worn beach baskets. A canvas hammock strung up on the porch promises endless hours of being lost in a good book, kids with ice-creams and the ringing of laughter in the air all remind me of lazy summer days.

The hot new colour for spring and summer are nails in  mint, pale blue and variations thereof. I don't think it will be a fashion trend that's here to stay but why not buy a bottle and have some fun. Peppermint  and spearmint are the perfect colours for this year's tropical beach vacation!

Scandinavian Style

I love the crisp, clean lines of Scandinavian design. Their minimal approach using bleached timbers, distressed furniture, lots of white on white and accents in warm timber tones is a clever mix of sophisticated European styling and the Hamptons design approach. The result is never hard edged or too sharp because of the combination of new with old. Antiques, recyled timber, vintage pieces and second hand market finds add warmth, character and personality. The layering of whites and neutral tones with minimal colour results in a crisp, modern look that has been adopted by fans all over the globe.

Let's Go Surfing

I live in a simple but stylish beach house on the coast. The town in which we live is called Anglesea and it boasts a series of great beaches, a pretty river and it's the really the start of the Great Ocean Road - one of the world's most spectacular coastal drives.

There is something for everyone in Anglesea - swimming, fishing, boogie boarding, canoeing, R and R, boating, diving, camping and of course surfing. Just up the road from us is the famous 'Bells Beach' that hosts a number of big international surfing competitions. My husband is a surfer and he tries to get out for quick morning surf  before work. He's always in a great mood when he's been in the water and there's a decent wave. Me, on the other hand finds the whole surf thing a lot of hard work :- early mornings, messy wet hair, lots of dumpings, salty skin and sand everywhere. However this photo shoot with Blake Lively for American Vogue has got me inspired and I'm in the mood for surfing again!

Tiffany Blue

There aren't many of us that don't get excited by those little blue Tiffany boxes full of promise. I was in Tiffany's pre-Christmas...just browsing, when a waiter dressed to the max in tails and white gloves offered me a baby cupcake served from a silver platter. It was almost too good to eat! The icing was the perfect match to the Tiffany blue and to top it off it was covered in glittery sanding sugar in the same colour. What a lovely treat when doing some Christmas shopping. I ended up not buying anything but it did make for a memorable visit!

Barely There Nudes

Barely there nudes and blush toned cosmetics are the look for Summer. 

This summer has seen are strong emergence of nudes, coral and blush on the catwalks which has filtered down to the high street fashion shops. Following this trend is a very pale nude look in cosmetics with only a hint of blush. I am looking forward to updating my cosmetics with some of these colours, especially the nail polish from Chanel in Ballerina.
