La Pâtisserie des Rêves

In a city, like Paris, where bakeries and pastry shops are in abundance it is difficult for one to stand out in the crowd. ‘La Pâtisserie des Rêves’ is one that does and it lives up to it’s name ‘the pastry shop of dreams’. The design is fun, creative and candy coloured. It has a gallery like feel to it with pastries being showcased under counter-weighted bell jars arranged on refrigerated slate tablets. The interior design is as much a delight for the eyes as are the cakes and pastries themselves. So when next in Paris treat yourself!

Exotic Holiday Destinations

I have just started to plan my next holiday. Now that a budget and the time of year have been set I am now faced with the difficult task of choosing a destination. Do I pick a popular romantic destination like Paris or Venice, somewhere fast paced and action packed like New York or Tokyo or do we venture further afield and pick somewhere exotic like Marrakech, Madagascar or maybe even Tahiti. Every time I pick up a new travel brochure I end up changing my mind! I am currently thinking that the photos below look like the perfect holiday destination and I am now on the hunt for a resort that looks like this!

Colour Me Coral

There's something very fresh and unpredictable about the colour coral. Now pink is an obvious choice for  little girls, brides and anybody else who likes the pretty, feminine, romantic side of life. Everything from roses to cupcakes to party dresses seems to work so beautifully in pink . But next time when you are out shopping, decorating or hosting a party why don't you throw caution to the wind, try something a little different and surprise everyone with coral!

Elandra - Mission Beach

As most of Australia has spent a restless night in anticipation of the damage and destruction that Cyclone Yasi would leave in it's trace, we woke up this morning breathing a sigh of relief that so far there have been no fatalities or injury and that the major towns and cities were spared the worst of it. The cyclone was to ravage my favourite part of Australia and the place where I holiday every year. I leave cold Melbourne winters to bask in the Queensland sunshine, lie on golden beaches, swim in warm tropical waters and be enveloped in warm, balmy air. The eye of the storm has hit a few small coastal towns and the devastation to hit this area has yet to reported so we nervously await news. Mission Beach has taken the brunt of it and this is where I spent my last holiday.

Elandra - Mission Beach

We stayed at Elandra, an amazingly beautiful eco-resort nestled amongst the palm trees overlooking Dunk Island and the Coral Sea. It breaks my heart to think that this resort along with the rest of the town may have been severely damaged and stripped of all it's natural beauty and tropical vegetation. These are a few holiday snaps that capture some of the magic of this beautiful part of the world.  

 

Our thoughts are with the people who have lost their homes and their livelihoods and now face a long road ahead of rebuilding their lives and their businesses.

European Vacation

This has to be my ultimate travel wardrobe and the ultimate travel destination for that matter! The latest campaign for Louis Vuitton, shot in some romantic destination like Capri screams absolute luxury. Everything from the silk scarves to the sunglasses, shoes and handbags are elegant and glamorous.The model is sun kissed and gorgeous and the whole thing makes me feel like jumping on a plane and taking off to somewhere like Amalfi. I would hire a little 1960's Alfa Spider, put my husband at the wheel and we would wind our way down the coastline exploring the colourful villages along the way!

Marie Antoniette Style

Be inspired by the film 'Marie Antoinette' - get your friends together, dress up and throw a lavish afternoon tea party. If you are into history, costume design, fashion and all things French and you haven't seen the film already then hire it on DVD one rainy afternoon. It's a refreshingly modern take on history directed by Sofia Coppola. It's a visual feast of silk, feathers, ruffles, lace, corsets, delicate pastries, extravagant cakes and sumptuous set designs. Here are few stills taken from the movie.
