Mango Surprise

I have had the terrible job of racing around cake shops and patisseries looking at cakes, chocolates and dessert inspiration for a dinner party I am putting together on Saturday night. I have spent the entire day drooling over chocolate and sugary treats. Just a single glance at those glass display cases was enough to send hunger pangs right to my very core! Everywhere I went I was tempted by beautiful handmade chocolates, pretty macarons and delicate pastries. How could I resist all of these free tastings? Anyway I managed to get it all sorted out but I come home feeling quite sick, full and in no mood for dinner!

Bright Ideas

It's my husband's birthday on the weekend and so far I have nothing planned. I am at the stage that I think I should start panicking and get something organised pretty quick smart. There's lots to think about - cakes, presents, balloons, a dinner party, food, drinks, invites and a guest list! I'm flicking through magazines and recipe books and collecting lots of inspiration and bright ideas. So fingers crossed, I can pull this thing off by Saturday night...I'll keep you posted.

Roses In Bloom

My husband bought me a beautiful bunch of roses today to brighten up the house. They are the old fashioned variety - apricot tinged with pink and they have an old fashioned, romantic scent. I love flowers - just about any kind and in every colour. Because most of our house is decorated in low key neutrals, flowers can single-handedly change the whole look and feel of the place. Large bunches of brightly coloured exotic flowers turn it in a tropical paradise, yellow sunflowers make me feel like I'm in the South of France and white flowers make it fresh and simple! Flowers are a small luxury that bring me a lot of joy!

Heavely Treats

Just a few heavenly treats to tempt us on a Monday! After a weekend of dinner parties, socialising, good food and generally too much too drink I always feel like something indulgent on a Monday. A little treat before I get back into my healthy weekly routine. A dainty cupcake or a sweet, little macaron would do the trick nicely!

Cheap and Chic

When it comes to decorating I am great believer in a little bit of imagination, good taste and style can get often get you a lot further than a pocketful of money. I started off my career as a fashion designer so I have always been handy with a sewing machine. When I moved out of home and moved into my a shared house I would get to work. I painted rooms, pulled up carpets and lime washed floor boards, whipped up curtains and doona covers on the sewing machine and put together a stylish collection of furniture from opportunity shops and second hand markets. Every place I have ever lived in has been cheery and homey. I think there's no excuse for not living in beautiful surroundings not matter what your budget!

Softly, Softly

A little weekend inspiration in soft pastel shades. Make the most of what could be a perfect weekend with fresh flowers, cups of tea, delicious treats, sleeping in and lounging around in silk pyjamas. Enjoy your weekend!
